POLLARDING
"They worked very hard over a long hot day – friendly, helpful and efficient. Would certainly recommend them."
Customer in Surrey
Tree pollarding involves the removal of all the limbs back to the main trunk. This is done in order to manage a trees size. Pollarding can be a suitable solution for certain species or where a tree needs to be contained within a certain area, on a pavement alongside a busy road for instance.
We sometimes advise to only re-pollard a previously pollarded tree, as pollarding has the potential to cause problems for the tree just like the practice of ‘topping’ can cause, for example, decay leading to removal of the tree in the future. Ongoing maintenance will be required as this technique will need to be carried out every few years.
